A bit of History of Ballroom Dancing
The very first ballroom dancing stepbook was written in England by Victor Sivester. Then in 1948 substituted by more modern Revised Technique by Alex Moore. Finaly, in 1993, after some modest revisions but still based on the original Alex Moore Revised Technique, a new book The Ballroom Technique became the one excepted by ISTD and used by all the dancers from all over the world.

The very first ballroom dance invented was the Viennese Waltz from Austria, which was danced with the music of most celebrated composer of that time Johann Strauss.

The very first World Ballroom Dance Championships took place in Paris, France in 1905 and then was held annually in different countries. See the List of all World Ballroom Dance champions here.
